Yeah, we received another Lead Hazard Control Grant from HUD and got the extra points for going "green" with healthy homes initiatives. I thought it was important to write the extra points into the grant to help with anyway I could to save the environment. In the inner-city it is hard to say, but many do not do practices to help the environment. I am not sure if it is lack of education or just lack of this as a priority, but if we can educate those that reach out to us for assistance, then we have helped others save the planet even if it is one step at a time. We will now give cleaning products that are "green". It was a hard sell to our outreach coordinator to change from what he thought was "green" but when I explained the damage it was doing when the owners mop with this product and poor it into the back yard. This can get into the water system for one. After long talks and giving him many articles he is on board and has ordered products that are safer for the environment.
